Great teams are made with several good players that contribute. And those players generally come from the draft. MacKinnon is a talent for sure, but with how bare Flames cupboard is with top notch prospects, it's better to take advantage of this deep draft and have multiple 1st rounders that could contribute to your team down the road.

Not going to argue that you need more than one single player, but you are forgetting that the flames will be bottom 3 next year to add to McKinnon.
Also you are assuming that the 2 latter picks from this year will be gold. They could easily not project the way you hope. McKinnon is a franchise player.
