The defensemen left the zone early a lot as well. Not sure I have seen so many 2 on 1, 3 on 2 and guys left wide open in the defensive zone as I did this year with Flames players standing in the neutral zone waiting for a pass that was never going to come.
As for leeway when guys made dumb plays they rarely seemed to sit for it. Sure certain guys seemed to be whipping boys often for what seemed to be little reason (Jones) but Hudler, Cerevenka, Wideman, Tanguay especially seemed to make silly passes/cutesy plays that result in bad, bad turnovers only to be tossed out there right away.
As for the system we should play I don't think any team should play a system that leaves the goalies and defensemen out to dry but on a team with such little talent, especially on the backend it seemed really crazy to play a style that seemed to naturally have forwards leaving the zone and couple that with lazy forwards (defensively) and weak defensemen.

I've said it before and I'll say it again in regards to the 2013 Flames. I haven't seen a Flames team that poorly coached since Don Hay/Greg Gilbert. Whatever system Hartley implemented was pure hot garbage and I hope he goes back to the drawing board this summer as this Flames team will finish dead last in an 82 game season playing defense like that.
However guys we should get back on the topic of the draft here as we can start another thread to discuss the coaching or lack thereof.
