Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 3:26 PM - Environment Canada has issued tornado watches for northern Alberta, including the City of Edmonton, Spruce Grove, Fort Saskatchewan and Drayton Valley.
A tornado warning has been issued for Leduc.
"Thunderstorms with tornadoes are possible this afternoon," Environment Canada warns in a statement issued Wednesday afternoon.
"Should severe weather approach or if you feel threatened, do not wait for warnings to take action ... take shelter immediately."
The watch comes as a large and slow moving dip in the jet stream, called an upper level trough moves across B.C. -- spelling unsettled weather across Alberta through the end of the week.
