As a Sony fan I feel an odd urge to argue for the xbox. I mean... they're just getting hammered so hard right now, it's almost getting difficult to watch.

- Kinect isn't going to record anything unless you want it to. Hackers controlling it is a problem, but I can think of about 10 things they could hack into that would be far more debilitating.

- a check-in isn't going to take a large amount of data (or at least it shouldn't). It's not as though you'll need to upload a 15mb packet of data to let them know you're connected.

I'm an Apple fan, so it'd be hypocritical of me to rip on MS for adopting a "keep up or be left behind" attitude when Apple basically perfected that line of thinking. There are absolute benefits to going that direction.

What amazes me is how poorly MS is handling their image. Sony essentially wrote the manual on how to not launch a system with the PS3, and it's as though MS has adopted it as a mission statement. Sony seems like they're trying to sell an experience while MS is trying to dictate it. Anybody remember "people will get a second job to buy a PS3"? The only thing dumber than saying something like that is knowingly following the same path years later.
