One thing I'd like to point out, while yes until this year Iginla managed to hit that 30 goal milestone, the last few years he did it at the expense of an all around game and thus became significantly less valuable as a player overall.

The last year he posted a positive plus minus rating was 2007-2008. As much as it's a bit of a lucky stat at times, the dominant players in the league are on the right side of it. It's no coincidence that in the last 3 injury shortened seasons Crosby is +61 in only 99 games. To be a dominant player in the league you need to outscore your opposition when you're on the ice, it's been 5 seasons since Iginla has been that player. Yes he's still been able to put up some respectable numbers, but so have a few of the players on the Oilers the last few years and just like the Flames it's gotten them absolutely no where.

I think the last few seasons Iginla has been living off his legacy where he was a dominant player in the league. The stat line was still decent but the team was going no where with him as their leader/star.

I think there is a very good chance this next season will be Iginlas last.
