I'm a big believer in drafting best player available, in most (but not all cases).
With the Flames current prospect system, you really cant say, "We've got a logjam of forwards, or we've got a logjam of defencemen" Maybe you can make the case that drafting a goalie isn't really necessary this season... but pretty much any other position could benefit from added depth. There is no place where the depth is so big you worry about getting your prospects enough playing time.
As such, if he's there for the Flames pick in the 3rd round, and is the best player available, take him. He's gonna need some help in development, but the upside is there, and you can say that with a lot of third round guys.
