I just know that in real life whenever I hear white people talk unfavorably about Natives, they usually purposly call them Indians with a derogatory tone. Like "Well maybe those damn indians should get a job!" as in "They don't want to be called Indians, but they piss me off so I'm going to call them Indians as a sign of disrespect!". That's kind of how those posts came off to me, but again, maybe that's just because of how I've heard the term used in real life.
Using "indian" in a perjorative sense is offensive to people from India, much like using "gay" to insult a straight person is offensive to gays.
