In addition to the Penguins looking like a better bet to win a Cup at the time, the Pens were also more suited to the style Iginla wanted to play: ie: less backchecking, more offensive.

Teams, however, win Cups, not a collection of great individuals.

Boston was ultimately better off without him. And Iginla kept falling down the depth chart in Pittsburgh as his warts became more exposed in an elite lineup.

Great player in his time but definitely fading.

However, he made the best decision at the time based on what was known then. Most would have done the same.
