A lot of this type of opinion on the Kings comes from the 2011/12 regular season. I think a lot of people just look at the standings and assume it was a cinderella type team, not realizing that the reality is they were pretty bad at the beginning, but became one of the best teams in the NHL by the second half. But becaus they had lost so much ground at the beginning, ended up in 8th.

Now this season, they made it to the conference finals, and techincally still have a shot, albeit a small one, at going to the Cup finals two years in a row. That's not catching lightning in a bottle, that's constructing a Cup contending hockey team.
It had more to do with getting everyone firing on all cylinders, and collectively doing what it takes to go deep. I don't dispute that they are a very solid team, lots of talent and depth. And playing very well.

Was more thinking that it is known that tough coaches sometimes come in and make a huge impact, then something happens, whether it be piece by piece chemistry dropping down, sometimes they start to lose the room just a bit.

By lightning in a bottle, I meant last year it was the perfect storm. What they did last year was remarkable, and this year they look less formidable. Just my opinion.

Just meant that winning the Cup is hard to do, much less repeat.
