Calling the Kings a "lightning in a bottle" situation shows a lack of understanding of their success, talent and team build, imo.
A lot of this type of opinion on the Kings comes from the 2011/12 regular season. I think a lot of people just look at the standings and assume it was a cinderella type team, not realizing that the reality is they were pretty bad at the beginning, but became one of the best teams in the NHL by the second half. But becaus they had lost so much ground at the beginning, ended up in 8th.
Now this season, they made it to the conference finals, and techincally still have a shot, albeit a small one, at going to the Cup finals two years in a row. That's not catching lightning in a bottle, that's constructing a Cup contending hockey team.
