Either that's where they industry is going (ie. both sony/ms are planning to monetize even more out of the existing consumer behaviours) or MS is just stupid.
I'm leaning to the prior, but hoping for hte latter.

No, Sony has treated in the way MS probably should have. They deflected every single question and told people that they'll reveal their plans later. By essentially leaking small bits of information all over the place MS caused this PR issue. Sony will likely reveal a very similar plan imo, but when they do it'll be rehearsed and (hopefully) more clear. MS essentially let the public jump to about every possible conclusion.
I'm with you on this, there's no way publishers can lock out used games on one system and not the other. So many publishers would jump ship it would be immensely damaging to Sony.
