I had a small wedding at Chateau Lake Louise and I paid for my guests' suite, food, etc. It's the classy thing to do. I think you should keep any financial burden as far away from wedding guests as possible.

I agree it shouldn't be a burden on your guests, however, if they can't/don't want to come no one is forcing them, regardless of where the wedding is being held.
FWIW, we are getting married in Canmore next month and many are staying the night and some are driving back to Calgary. If someone can't spend a half a tank of gas to see me get married and have a dinner I am buying for them, then they are not someone I should have invited in the first place.
