A QF loss at his "worst" major (one which he's reached the finals of 5 times) is not an indicator that he should retire now. If Fed starts embarrassing himself at Wimbledon or the US open, then we can start talking about when he should hang them up.

It's really up to his tolerance level for what kinds of seeding he's willing to work from. Is he willing to play in tourneys at the #10 position or lower? Or is anything outside the top 4 simply unacceptable? If he couldn't stand being the absolute best in the world then he should have called it quits after 2009.

I've stopped expecting Fed to win anything and take whatever he accomplishes as a bonus. His brilliance is now like a broken light switch that flickers on and off, between matches and sometimes within a single set. But it's still there to see at least. I guarantee none of the other top guys will be able to wow a crowd when they're his age 5-6 years from now.

All that said, go for it Jo, please don't waste this opportunity like so many other upset artists do at every tourney.
