I thought through the first two series that the Pens were a strange team mentally, but running into the Bruins has just broken them so far. No resilience. You could see in the first series against NYI that they would cruise for a lot of the time without really putting in a full effort and then get goals on outstanding performances immediately after their pride was injured by a goal against. The Bruins are utterly shattering their pride however and showing it to be irrelevant.
I was really looking forward to a great series and a Pens win, but the Bruins are playing much more as a team and with much better focus and preparation. The Pens have fallen to pieces mentally. I hope they can get themselves together for the next game, if only to make a decent series out of this. If they don't, the series will be most disappointing for the Pens having lost without ever really mounting a challenge and turning what should have been an incredible battle into a one-sided cakewalk.
