Nate Silver, the author and statistician behind the 538 blog - the blog that successfully used stats to predict the last 2 US elections and the development of the predictive system that is pretty much standard for baseball - uses regression analysis and other stuff to answer the question: Why Can't Canadian Teams Win the Stanley Cup?
