I think you can overspend the bonus amounts and that comes out of your salary cap the next year. Ie if thy are at the cap (64M) and the bonus takes it to 67M they are okay this year but if the 2014-15 cap stays the same..... (a lot of the players share will be taken up with buy outs) then TB would have a cap of 61M.
Lecavalier needs to be bought out in the worst way.... the amnesty buyout seems to be designed specifically for him and Redden.
