The other thing is that gay marriage is legal in several Mexican states, as well as in parts of South America. It's legal in Uruguay, Spain, Argentina, Portugal, Belgium and France which are mainly Catholic countries. Civil unions between same-sex partners are also legal in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Ireland, Croatia, and Slovenia, which again, are mainly Catholic countries. Poland and Italy are the only two mainly Catholic countries in Italy and Poland (and micro-states Monaco, Andorra, San Marino and Malta) are the only Catholic countries in Europe that have no same-sex union laws. The three most populous countries in South America (all Catholic) allow for forms of same-sex unions.

There is no link between being Catholic and not supporting laws of equality. I am not saying that all Catholics like gay marriage, but there is a difference between not liking it and thinking it should be illegal.

Australia still hasn't made it legal? I thought they legalized it before we did, they usually seem to lead the way on a lot of progressive ideas
