I get he plays with fire and on an edge all the time - but the guy appears to want to win more than worry about personal achievements. You watch the .GIF on DJF, and who is one of the first people to greet Kawasaki on the field? Ya, Brett Lawrie.
Call him many things - but I don't think selfish is one of them. Like I said earlier, I think it is just a guy who is battling, and is struggling to be part of the solution rather than the problem. It comes out in many forms, but I think he has a desire to win ball games that is higher than anyone else on this club.

He is also a guy who repeatedly ran through stops signs from base coaches making easy outs, argued so much with his minor league coaches they would prefer to trade him than deal with him anymore and repeatedly takes himself out of games because of his whiney, temper tantrums.
He may think that he is acting like a guy that wants to win so badly but his actions show that he is a prima donna that cares much more about Brett Lawrie than he does winning. If he did care about winning he would listen to his coaches, make smart baseball plays and take a look at what was called strike instead of blaming the umps and making the same mistakes a few days later on a similar pitch.
Giving 110% on a foul ball is great but there is a lot more to winning than effort and Lawrie gets a gigantic F so far in his career when it comes to the little things that help a team win.
