other thought would be to look at pinkbike.com and search for a previously enjoyed bike. You may get more bang for your buck.

could also have a look at a locla bike shop (LBS) and see where they are at price point.

Otherwise, likely not a lot of difference between sportchek, sportmart and can tire. if you buy a bike form any of these places, have a good look at it to ensure it is properly assembled and functioning. Then take it for a shakedown ride someplace relatively safe (i.e. don't go screaming down a hill that requires hard braking).
