There are advantages to a number of illicit narcotics out there. I'm not saying crack is one of them, but cocaine has been used in pharmacology in the past. There are two main problems with cocaine, and the first stems from it being illegal, which allows not only the cartels, but every distributor along the way to "step on" or introduce their own cuts to the final product. The other problem is it's incredibly addictive to many people, but there is some research out there that suggests that addiction is largely genetic and there are some who are impervious to it (albeit a small percent of the population).
