Does anyone remember when Sean Couturier fell to 8th in 2011? Or when Hampus Lindholm spiked to 6th in 2012? Or when Cam Fowler and Brandon Gormley fell to 12th and 13th respectively in 2010?
Fact is, a lot of teams draft lists look considerably different than what Central Scouting, ISS or even us at Future Considerations put out. Different scouts. Different eyes.
It's not inconceivable for a prospect to be picked a few spots lower than the rest, or jump higher than most/all have projected.
That said, it takes two teams to really like two different players over Barkov for him to slide to the Flames. That's if he's not gobbled up in the top three.
Is the scenario likely? Probably not. Possible? Yes.
