This is the weakest argument of all. The game is nothing like what it was.
Uhhh...they have all sorts of limits and rules concerning clubs already...this is merely another one.

as for the statement that the game is nothing like it was....that may have some truth to it, but i would suggest that the players themselves have way more to do with that than ANY advances in clubs and technology associated with them.

These guys today are athletes and act as such in the majority of cases. All the real top guys take extremely good care of themselves both with exercise and diet because if tey dont, they simply wont be able to compete long term. Its much like goaltenders in hockey over the years, back "then" (whenever that was ) guys in net were as often the guy that couldnt skate as well as others as he was any good at the position. Yet when they started taking the position seriously and scientifically, they all of a sudden became some of the more athletic guys on a team.

This is truly a very minor issue when it comes to the game itself, and more of an issue with guys that cant mentally get over a ball with a regulation sized putter and clear their heads to strike the ball correctly.

Tough for the few that use it, but absolutely within the guidelines of the USGA and their mandate as keepers and rule makers of the game.
