The point is, he will probably have few options. If he gets serious offers from only Ottawa, Dallas, Edmonton, and Buffalo, who's to say he won't pick the hometown option? Especially if he wins the Cup with Pittsburgh? And it's entirely possible MacTavish makes some kind of drastic deal at the draft to bring in an impact defenseman.
I wouldn't bet the farm on it, but I think discounting it out of hand overlooks how few options Iginla will probably have. Teams are going to need their shrinking cap space to hold onto their core players, not sign 36-year-old UFAs.
