Maybe they need that to maintain interest in Colorado. But if was a fan I would be concerned.

Why? Roy has actual coaching experience, and winning experience at that. His players seem to love him. Heck, Radulov said something like he'd swim across the ocean to play for Roy again and that guy occasionally assaults his coaches.
I would be worried if they hired him simply for his name, but he has been developing his own coaching style and refining it in the minors and has done very well for himself.
