If there are trades then they will be lopsided in favour of the team taking on Cap/Salary.
I would trade Stempniak for Mike Richards.
Or take RFA Stephan or Hagelin or Zucurello for a prospect and a 2nd or 3rd round pick round pick. These guys would not be getting O'Rielly offer sheets but will want at least 3M like the Subban bargain.
Let the Rangers buy out Brad Richards and the Flame could use him as a stop gap for 2M/year.
The landscape will change but the Flames are in great position to take advantage.
