I have two problems, my left knee buckled on me while curling two winters ago and did get better for a while it has really been a problem for me for the last 6 months again, my original online research suggested sprained MCL, but lately it snaps pops and grinds whenever I move it, feel like there's no cartilage in there, the pain is primarily in the back of my knee right, and has extended to my upper calf. It has been swollen for quite some time to.
In both knees, I have pain in the front, right above the knee caps, and is the worst when sitting, whenever there is impact, or squatting, can't run or even jog, up/ down stairs is a struggle, and getting of and off the toilet really hurts them as well. Of course we all need our knees but, my job and lifestyle really become my problem. My job requires lots of driving, squatting and climbing, which are all a problem for me right now and as for my my hobbies, tennis, and slow pitch are out for this year, running is not even possible, like I can't even jog across the street, yard work is totally, aside from running the lawn mower. I have also gained 12Lbs so far in 2013,primarily due to not being able to be active which is the last thing I needed.
What can I expect to hear from the Dr.? What are the chances he just chalks it up to getting old?(I'm 34). I'm not expecting to get a whole lot out of the visit other then some sort of prescription. I made this appt to appease my wife and she is right, she said to go because of the effects my knees are having on my life in general, and something needs to be done. I've only been to the Dr three times in the last 15 or so years so I not too sure what to expect.
