That seemed interesting. Also, they are the magnitude of "X" - the largest of the logarithmic scale (x10) they have, although there is a scale within the X magnitude as well.

The reason for the global warming comment in my thread title? The discussion on the comment page of the national post seems to be all directed towards global warming.
Whether you agree or disagree with global warming..... it seems like a solar flare should have
zero impact on that discussion, as I don't see how they could be related at all?
