Yes but again that is one ref (or a couple in 2002) with a mental issue fixing the game not David Stern making a phone call to Donaghy and his crew to see game 7.
I'm just saying that the NHL (or NBA in that case) had about as much to do with the calls that night as any other game played throughout the year. There is no "win" for any professional sports league to cheat. This is why leagues that get caught last less than 10 seasons.
And that even goes for "it was in" conspiracies. As a fan I would rather think my team was cheated out of winning instead of just beat. Just like the Flames, Washington had another game to win the series but they didn't. You don't think in the last decade something would have come out about that? How long did it take them to catch on to Donaghy, or even Pete Rose in the 80's?
As a business I understand why certain sports want certain teams playing but I don't think risk the history and future of their billion dollar business for it because I believe no matter who wins what series the money will continue to grow for them.
