I just don't understand some people proposing to trade Sven Baertschi or even TJ Brodie along the Flames 1st pick and St. Louis pick for a chance to get an unproven Nathan McKinnon. The Flames invested a few seasons already and they will just trade him? TJ Brodie is the same thing, they invested some time on him already and the kid is still young and improving. Both guys are the future of the Flames and you don't trade your good futures. I wouldn't even include Max Reinhart on that trade. If I would include a young prospect, i will even have a hard time adding Roman Horak's name on the potential trade. Yes McKinnon is good in junior but there's a possibility that he might be the next Alexander Daigle or Brian Lawton (both a bust) or he could turn out to be an Eric Staal or other successful early first rounder. Don't get me wrong, i would love for the Flames to get a shot on picking McKinnon but they can't, there are other young centre they can pick when their name gets called.
