Wouldn't be too surprised to see Feaster trying to move Backlund, the 6th, and one of the 1st rounders to get into the top 3.
I think a bit about Burke getting the Sedins. Started with the 3rd overall pick. He made a bunch of trades starting with McCabe and the next year's 1st round pick for the 4th overall pick. Then he sent 4th overall and two 3rd rounders for the 1st overall. Then he traded the 1st overall and another 3rd round pick for the 2nd overall. Seems pretty easy in hindsight but clearly highway robbery.

This would be the dumbest thing Feaster could do.
Is the gap between MacKinnon and Monahan a first round pick and Backlund?
The organization lacks depth in all areas. Trading a #1 center, a first rounder and a marginal second liner (who showed a lot of promise this year) for a better #1 center is not smart.
I like to look back at the Lindros trade. Not comparing Monahan to Forsberg, or MacKinnon to Lindros, but look how badly that deal worked out for the Flyers, and how well it worked out for the Nordiques/Avalanche.
The pick we have at #6 will land us Monahan, Lindholm, or Barkov. Whatever player we get will be an excellent building block.
I think this draft is more 2003 where the gap between 1-5 and 6-10 is not that much. Unlike 2004, where the gap between 1-2 and the rest of the draft was quite significant, where a deal to trade 2 firsts and a player for higher first is justified.
