I think Amanda showed great strength to keep looking for a way to escape after ten years of futility. Usually by then the abducted are beat down into submission.
Maybe I've watched too much "Criminal Minds", but sometimes I think death is more merciful than being tortured/violated every day for over a decade. I feel so incredibly bad for these poor girls and not even death would be severe enough punishment for the men that held them.

How about we let these girls decide if death is preferable to being saved. I'm sure they're aware suicide is an option.
When the media is saying they're healthy, I think that's a relative term here. It lets you know they weren't black and blue and malnourished. The mental trauma is likely to be severe, but again, that's obvious and not something that needs to be diagnosed two minutes into the positive side of this story, which is this part of their ordeal is finally over.
