I think Shanahan had no choice but to suspend Gryba after that tasteless headline on the Ottawa Sun. Last thing the NHL needs is American media blowing it out of proportion again on why the NHL is so dangerous, and that players can get away with injuring players like that. Fair? Probably not, but like Table 5 said, there are a lot of other factors that Shanahan has to weigh in when dishing out punishment.
