I just see the importance of this draft to the Flames being similar to the Ducks 2003 draft.
This year's draft apparently has similar depth ton 2003 when the Ducks grabbed Getzlaf at 19 and Perry at 28.
Plus in that 2003 draft, the 20 to 30 picks resulted in guys like Perry, Kesler, Burns, Richards, and 4 other NHL regulars.
I don't think the Ducks are where they are now if they only picked up Getzlaf alone or traded both their picks for a top 5 to draft Erice Staal or Nathan Horton.
I could see trading the low firsts to move up in a weak draft but guys like Compher, Gauthier, Dauphin, Petan, etc could be as good if not better than the top of the class. You just never know with development.
