All of my comments on the Lindholm vs. Monahan choice were all made in the knowledge that Barkov was as good as gone by the time the Flames made their pick.

Same here.
I'd more or less resigned myself to not landing Barkov, so I preferred Monahan. Also, there seems to be a lot of talk about moving up from the top 6 to top 4. We would have to offer Nashville something they could bite at, like if they wanted a defenceman or winger and they knew that they could get one by dropping down to 6th + Pit/St. Louis pick. It's a shame we don't have a second rounder. I still don't think they'll do it though because everyone knows how deep this draft is and every team may just take the best player available in the top 10.
But Barkov does look like a player with an immense amount of potential and higher ceiling than Monahan.
