If they really feel MacKinnon and Barkov are the two elite centres of the draft then I'd say hey, lets do it.
Would NSH deal down 2 spots for an extra 1st rounder? It's certainly possible. I'd say that is a very tempting offer. They probably wouldn't do it if they have Barkov in an elite top four but I think there's some teams out there who don't have Barkov in the top grouping.

I have a friend who has been saying all along that he just hopes the flames get "their man"
there has been a lot of criticism recently directed at the flames management for going public with what looks like revisionist history. "jankowski will be looked at as the best player to come out of the draft." "we had galchenyuk at number 1" etc. however i tend to believe the galchenyuk thing, and if they can somehow snag the player who's 1 or 2 on their list by trading up, then they've gotta do it.
they may well have barkov above mackinnon, due to size or any number of reasons.
If the list has barkov all the way, and they can find a way to get "their man" i would hope they pull the trigger. This is such an important pick for this franchise, and now is not the time for shrinking violets.
