There's so many interesting guys that someone good will fall to us if we don't move up.
In fact because of the depth this year I think there's a good chance the Flames might land a guy they have top 15 at 22 or wherever the Blues pick ends up. This is the type of draft where a player a team has ranked top 10 may fall to them in the late teens, a player they have top 15 may fall to the 20's, etc. I expect a lot of teams saying, "We couldn't believe this guy was available here" and have them fully mean it.
This is really evidenced by what scouts have told Bob Mackenzie.

Obviously the difference of opinion is quite large when you're talking about 20 different
players getting top 10 votes from different scouts. And this is why you see teams say that they got a top 10 ranked guy in the late teens. It happens even though I know some posters are skeptical and think when GM's say this they are just saying it for PR. They actually aren't saying it for PR and it just happens that there is usually no consensus in the draft outside the top 4-8 or so.
There's gonna be some great picks in the mid-late first it looks like. A lot of teams are going to be very happy someone they liked quite a lot fell to them.
