1. COL - Jones - Too many reasons to list.
2. FLA - Drouin - FLA has good depth at C (Huberdeau, Grimaldi, Bjugstad etc) in the pipes and are quite low on wing skill.
3. TAM - Mackinnon - Good young C in Stamkos, Lacavalier is getting older and depth drops off significantly at that point, Wing depth isn't much better, I've got this one as a pickem, I think they take the best available player.
4. NSH - Barkov - When your top scorer is Weber, you need offensive help badly. They have some good wing depth in Forsberg and Budish but I think they could be leaning towards a center... With recent memories of Radulov in their minds I have them taking Barkov.
5. CAR - Nichushkin - Not even looking at prospects they have strength down the middle, E.Staal/J.Staal/Skinner, decent wingers in Semin and Ruutu but not enough depth, they could use help on the wing and depth on D, they will be taking a good hard look at Nich, and I think they might just gamble on that elite upside. This is the pick I am least confident about however.
6. CGY - Monahan - It's almost a coin toss to me with Lindholm, however to me the edge has to go to size and smarts. We took a gamble on Jankowski last year, but this year I think we need to take the smart pick who looks to be the most NHL ready. I see this kid having more leadership potential and we aren't talking about another Yeller here, he will have some skills too.
I do wonder with TB, if Drouin is off the table at 3, whether they would be willing to trade down with us to try to land a guy like Monahan. They might still pick Mack, but I would think a good #2 guy like Monahan might fit their needs a bit better.
