In one aspect in general, they need to bring some NHL ruggedness in.
2006 Sarich would be ideal, but its 2013 now....that said, Sarich is still by far the toughest guy that has a role over 15 minutes per game.
If you're not keeping him, 1 or ideally 2 defenseman in his mold; nasty guys that other forwards don't want to go in the corner with, and/or, players make sure they know where the guy is when their skating/waiting for a pass in the neutral zone.
They have the puck movers and the PP guys with Wideman, Brodie, and Giordano. Outside of an amazing transformation (the way Sutter turned Regher nasty in 2003) of Smith and Butler (unlikely, plus, they don't have the skill to play 20 mins a night), that's the pressing need on defense, and as overall team toughness.
The forwards also need those type of injections. If Lucic is still willing to play that style, he'd be a good fit (my words aren't tampering, Craig) as an example.
Not sure who those 2D may be, but they get that set, and instantly this team is a lot better and the forwards are a couple inches taller, whoever they are.
