No way he was getting less than Kisio. Kisio IIRC signed a 2 year, $1m total contract.
Nieuwendyk turned down a 3 year, $6m offer from the Flames, after getting $1.85m awarded in arbitration that year (according to wiki)...and ended up signing not much more per year ($11m over 5 years, so $2.2 per year) with Dallas.
