Joe N. made some pretty useless trades and UFA pickups. I do appreciate him not hanging onto a pipe dream to get 8th and trying to get assets back even though the stars were in a tight race.

I agree the Oilers screwed the pooch once again. Not sure what they were thinking?
The next part if just my gut feeling and i have no fact base for it, so bear with me:
In the last couple of years i continually hear KK and Feaster taking small "pot shots" at the oilers organization. I never hear them do that with any other team in the NHL. It's starting to come across as long as the flames are better than the Oilers and just a little more competent then all is well.
Maybe, just maybe, the best thing that could have happened to the flames ownership for them to open their eyes, was for the Oilers to do the right thing and hire a competent GM. A good GM in Edmonton could easily have the Oilers back in the playoffs next year.
