The Capitals will be one of the hottest teams entering the playoffs in large part because of Ovechkin excelling his game as of late. While the Rangers haven't been terrible lately either. A big reason for New York's early season struggles we're due to their big name players, namely Richards, not showing up. He's turned his game around down this stretch.
In the end, it's the playoffs, I'm going with the better defensive team. The Rangers without Staal (not sure if he'll be ready for the start of the playoffs) have still been excellent defensively, and of course it helps that they have an all world goalie capable of carrying the team.
