I don't know if this is the reason or not, but the last time I boarded a plane that was rear to front what the people in the rear would do is fill the front overhead bins with their baggage. (You know- the baggage that now costs money to check into the cargo hold.) So then the front people would board, and all the front bins would be full. Now flight attendants are trying to find places for baggage; all so the rear people could have a nice spot for their jacket.
I also don't know what that would do for the weight distribution of an aircraft either.
