Emery has a better save percentage, a much better GAA, and is 17-1 this season. You are right in saying that he's not close to as good. He's much better.
I don't see why a team would want Luongo and his contract when Smith, Backstrom, Emery, Bernier, Miller, etc, are all still on the table, or might be on the table - and have no way of really hurting you down the road.

Basing it off one year and yes perhaps you can make an argument but Emery isn't far away from playing in the KHL and playing behind the best team in the league. Good luck to any team that thinks they are getting this from him next year without the luck he has and the Hawks in front of him.
Backstrom is already 35 seems risky to add him over Luongo when Backstrom has weaker numbers.
I said with Smith concerns about how much his recent play has to do with Phoenix, He didn't look great in his previous two stops and with Bryz flopping in Philly some questions need to be asked.
Bernier and Miller are going to cost a ton to get if someone decides to go that route and Miller isn't any better with a big deal himself and Bernier although looks very solid still hasn't shown much at the NHL level.
