I clearly stated in my situation we had no problem getting a sitter for our 3 year old. But there was a very good chance we would have a 1 week old newborn (and we would have as our second child was born right on the due date). You don't just leave them at home with a sitter and go to a wedding (this wedding was also out of town in Canmore). My declining ultimately led to my buddy of over 15 years dropping out of my life and de-friending me on facebook.

Since my wife and I had our first kid we have attended a few kid free weddings, I was simply wondering why this seems to be a trend that has shown up more and more compared to what I remember from going to so many weddings as a kid growing up.
