Hmmm, I didn't see this thread when it first showed up, but I'd almost be scared living in an area like that the way some people were talking in the thread.
I've been living in Whitehorn for a little over 2 years now, and the worst thing that I've had is some drunk dude walking around on my roof last week. This area is so sleepy and quiet, at least in the cul-de-sac I'm living in. The guy on one side of me has lived there for 15 years and says he'll never leave, the guy on the other side has been here for 25 years and doesn't ever want to leave. The guy across the road has been there since the house was built (1975) and hasn't had any really bad experiences in his time here.
The NE gets such a bad rap, but I really think the southern half of Whitehorn and northern half of Rundle are fantastic places to live, as well as significant portions of Temple and Pineridge. Very quiet, I never hear sirens like someone mentioned, and the house prices are extremely affordable, compared to the rest of the city. I live in a fairly updated 1200 sq. ft. bungalow in a cozy cul-de-sac, with 8 full grown trees on my lot and a double detached garage, and the place is only worth a maximum of 275K right now. I don't think I can find another area in the city with value like that.
