Oil prepare for game 5
Rexall Place was alive yesterday as tickets for game 5 hit the streets outside in the early morning. While inside the Oil prepare for there game 5 showdown with the Wings. Star forward Zherdev was not on skates for either yesterday or this mornings light practice as an early indication that Nikolia will not be in the line-up tonight. “The rook” Jeff Carter was skating on the second line with Doan and Samsonov once again.
The Oil concentrated on special teams during today’s light skate. After a dismal 60% penalty kill effort in game 4 (Wings went 2 – 5 on the PP) the Oil must improve on that in order bury the Wings tonight on home ice.
Fan favorite Jarome Iginla talked with the press as he signed autographs for the 15,000 enjoying the day at Rexall, as this morning skate was open to the public followed by local minor hockey day. As six local tyke teams will entertain the masses with 3 games scheduled between the morning skate and this afternoon heavy weight tilt between the Oil and the Wings.
“ Were feeling good about our chances here tonight, said Iggy. It should be a great hockey game, they must win to keep their hopes alive and we must win to advance to the next round. Goaltending is a huge part of your play-off success and the key to our game today is to get to Dunham early, and play with a lead. If we can score early and keep out of the penalty box tonight we’ll give ourselves a good chance to win, and I am confident this group can get the job done”.
