I have a hard time believing these guys didn't have an escape plan. Russians and Chechnyans are responsible for traficking hundreds of thousands of sex slaves and tons of munitions every year, undedected. If these guys have tapped into the right network, good luck finding them.
It's still likely that he's just wandering around somehwere on foot by himself, but I wouldn't rule out an escape. Another possibility is he's killed himself, and his corpse is an abandoned building somewhere.

It seems to be more that other countries should be checking for similar style attacks or something. Kind of like after 9/11 I guess?
