Further to the point though, we're already playing a 'circus sideshow' 48 game season and now, two teams that are favourites to win the cup would only play 47? What happens if its a Pens/Bruins ECF? What if one of them wins the cup?
Most people would understand that 1 game wont make any difference, but again you're playing with the integrity of the schedule.

Again I point to the NBA, who faced with the exact same scenario decided to cancel a game with absolutely no push back from anyone. Not even blow hards like Skip Bayless.
