Heatley's salary is
only 5M so they could buy him out for 3.33M over 2 years without needing to give up anything. Might still be worth it to give up a pick or two though.
But, I would love to see Cammalleri moved with the Flames keeping 3M, and get Heatley from the Wild at 4M salary. Wouldn't cost the Flames in any salary, they'd still be paying 7M.
Cammalleri at ~3.5M cap space (4M salary) to a contending team for their 1st or something.
Heatley to Calgary for 6M cap space (4M salary) for free or a late pick going Calgary's way if they are desperate. Wild save 2.33M in salary instead of buying him out and still get enough cap space to re-sign/replace everyone.
Gives Heatley the absolute best chance at reclaiming his top line sniper status having Tanguay feeding him the puck on the first unit PP and hopefully he can be flipped again for another pick at the deadline.
