Its true the context of my post was that if you can trade 3 for 12 + 19 + 26, or what ever it was he had the picks at. As a rule the 3 lower first round picks have turned out better. The exceptions have been when you find a special player like Toews/Duchene at 3.
I think unless MacKinnon or Jones is available at 3, a quality scouting staff would be better off trading 3rd overall for Columbus' 3 picks. Not that I believe that offer would be on the table, and I am really hoping one of those two is available.
